Hi, we have today problem with php 4.4.7 on SUSE Linux, after make install it doesnt create libphp4.so. The solution is:

>1. run your configure script as it is
>2. Open the libtool file that is created in the php source directory
>3. find the variable definition: deplibs_check_method=
>4. edit it to : deplibs_check_method="pass_all"
>5. run make && make install
