Howto upgrade mysql and php on Fedora Core.

It will works on all fedora core, where is yum installed. If you havent you installed, please install it at first

1. Dowload mysql source (you can also choose version 5.1.x or 5.2.x) 

wget http://dev.mysql.com/get/Downloads/MySQL-5.0/mysql-5.0.33.tar.gz/from/http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/ftp.mysql.com/

Compile and install
tar -xzvf mysql-5.0.33.tar.gz
cd mysql-5.0.33
./configure --prefix=/usr && make && make install && cd ..

Use yum and install  this packages:

yum install libxml2-devel
yum install flex

yum install httpd-devel            

yum install bzip2-devel
yum install curl-devel
yum install gd-devel
yum install ncurses-devel
yum install gpm-devel

Latest php needs newer pcre. We must install it from source

wget ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/programming/pcre/pcre-6.6.tar.gz
tar -xzvf pcre-6.6.tar.gz
cd pcre-6.6
./configure && make && make install && cd ..

Download latest php and install from source

wget http://cz.php.net/get/php-5.2.1.tar.bz2/from/this/mirror
tar -xjvf php-5.2.1.tar.bz2
cd php-5.2.1
